Get your feet summer ready with Walk This Way!

It’s that time of year again, and summer is well and truly here. Pack away those winter boots, knee high socks and thermals, because only sandals are needed! Dust your feet off and get them summer ready with Walk This Way’s top five tips below. Neglected winter feet are never a pretty sight. Does the thought of this have you curling your toes and refusing to take your boots off? Fear not, we have the answers! These tips are like a facial for your feet, give them the pamper they deserve. Your feet will be looking and feeling years younger and beach / holiday ready in no time.

Step one: Toe nails
If you are like me, a nail polish addict, you really need to give them a break! Long term use of nail varnish can dehydrate the toe nails, stain and damage them. Nourish and hydrate them with a nail and cuticle oil.

Cut and file the nails to the natural shape of the nails. Nail clippers and glass nail files are the best things to use.

Hot colours this season are bright corals, neon, peach and bronze. Always use a basecoat to protect the nail plate and prevent nail discolouration. A top coat seals the varnishes and ensures a glossy effect.

Step two: Hard Skin
Hard skin on the feet is caused by the way that you are walking. Foot file on dry skin, this enables effective and even removal of the hard skin. Use of an exfoliator on the soles of the feet will also enhance the effects. If you are suffering with excessive hard skin then please visit a podiatrist.

Soak your feet in tepid water with fresh lemon and mint, this will leave them feeling relaxed, soothed and revitalised.

Step three: Moisturise
The moisturiser feeds, nourishes and hydrates the skin. Your feet will feel noticeably softer and smoother. Moisturising daily will also prevent the reoccurrence of hard skin and cracked heels.

Step four: Sandals
Wear sandals with cushioned soles and ankle support and ensure they are wide / deep enough to create optimum comfort and prevent / treat foot pain. One of the number one causes of foot pain are flip flops. If you do choose to use them, wearing them little and often is best.

Step five: Sunscreen
Protect your feet from the sun and use sunscreen when needed. Most of us don’t think about our feet when applying sunscreen and it’s a part of the body often missed. Skin on the feet is susceptible to melanomas and other forms of skin cancer.

And finally, if you are struggling with the above foot treatments, we would be delighted to get your feet summer ready for you. Instant results to get your feet looking and feeling amazing to give you the confidence to bare your soles.
