Toenail Reconstruction

Toenail Reconstruction

However, it is a sad fact that many people do not feel comfortable in sandals and prefer to suffer in silence in hot and sweaty shoes rather than have their nails out on display. People suffering from fungal toenails often feel too embarrassed to wear revealing shoes and think they must soldier on until the colder months when it is more appropriate to wear closed shoes.

Here at Walk This Way Podiatry we offer an exciting treatment that can resolve this problem and give you back your foot confidence.

What is nail reconstruction?

Nail reconstruction is the restoration of a previously damaged nail due to fungal infections or trauma. The process involves the application of layers of a special gel to the damaged nail, onto which UV light is focused in order to harden the gel. Once the gel has hardened, you can apply and remove as much nail polish as you like because acetone does not affect the nails, and the nails can last up to 6 weeks!

Who could benefit from nail reconstruction?

• Thickened and discoloured nails
• Fungal nails
• Reduced nails after a trauma
• Nails with an abnormal shape
• Psoriatic nails
• Beau’s lines

What are the benefits of nail reconstruction?

• The reconstructed nail looks and feels like a natural nail
• Improves confidence and morale
• The new nail is flexible so can move naturally as the toe moves
• The gel contains no aggressive chemicals
• The new nails can be polished the same way as a natural nail
• The treat is quick, safe and lasts up to six weeks

We have had some really fantastic results with some of our patients, please check out the before and after pictures which show the difference nail reconstruction can make to the overall look of your feet! More so, get your sandals and show your feet off!
